CURIOSITY - A PRIMARY CURRENCY OF TRULY SHOWING UP
Curiosity is a primary currency of Truly Showing Up. It applies across all activities, professional, social, familial. It carries us and contorts us to its craving.
SHOWING UP - THE POWER OF HOW WE SEE OURSELVES
We all Show Up wrapped in self-perception. It’s our natural state. These beliefs of who we are reveal to us the world. They’re not our escort. They’re our parade.
Are You Solo? Or Alone?
When not with others, are you solo or alone?
The distance is vast.
And it’s not semantic. It’s freedom. And it’s power.
OUR FRACTAL LIVES
Years of research prove a sad finding. Many of us live mostly by default. We show up with a limited understanding of ourselves, and superficial readiness to make the most of “right now”.
You’re choosing to do that? How we invest our time, emotions and attention.
Attention is our most precious gift. It is our tool, our weapon, and our controller. We create our lives through what we attend to (i.e., pay attention to). It is the substance of our feelings, thoughts, decisions, and actions.
How merging personal and professional time knocks us off our game.
Blending personal and professional time knocks us off our game. We should decide what amount of work/play blending is acceptable, and when it can and cannot occur, before peak-achievement level slips away. Focused, goal directed time is essential for on-game living.
We feel and resonate with others, whether we want to or not.
We absorb others’ emotions and even their behaviors. To stay On Our Game we must notice when it happens and proactively manage it.
IGNORING EACH OTHER KNOCKS US OFF OUR GAME
Our culture of separation challenges a basic need for human engagement. Feeling connected helps us stay On Our Game! Resist being controlled by social queues to ignore others.
Primed - The outside world is controlling my behavior, and I have no idea it’s happening.
We may agree with a political view simply because we’re bobbing our head up and down (in a yes motion) to background music…or walk more slowly after hearing words subconsciously affiliated with elderliness. To achieve more we need to understand how priming works so we can better manage it.
Who impacted you? The influence of people we don’t know.
Even people we’ve never met impact us. We must notice and manage them to stay on our game.
How People Silently Influence Us
We adopt others’ behaviors, emotions, motivations, and goals. This is called social influence.
We Feel What Others Feel, Whether We Want To or Not
On Game Achievement means we control how other people’s emotions impact us.
Who Is Responsible For Our Achievement?
My research shows so many of us experience achievement below our potential, and yet do little to change it.
A Fast Way To Up Your Game!
My research shows we notice off-game impacts all the time, we just don’t do anything about them!
